After the ink from the logo application has dried, the stick is checked one more time for straightness. This is done by rotating the stick under an infrared fiber optic sensor. As the stick is rotated, the computer detects any variation in the straightness of the stick. When a stick doesn't meet our exacting specifications, it is dropped out of the production, ensuring that every Vic Firth stick that you buy will be perfectly straight!

Vic Firth sticks are then sorted for weight. The sticks are loaded into a rack on a conveyor and are placed one at a time on a computer scale. The computer records the weight of each stick. As each particular stick moves down the conveyor, the computer places it into a bin containing sticks of the same weight.

Each stick is weighed by the computer. Click to see a full sized picture.
