Percussion One and the Texas Bowl continued their strong partnership by welcoming the Navy and the University of Missouri to Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas on December 31st for the 2009 Texas Bowl.
The Texas Bowl is an annual celebration of the culture, heritage, and football tradition of the Lone Star State and is quickly becoming one of the premier bowl games in the nation. The bowl has broken attendance records every year since its inception and donated over $200,000 to DePelchin Children’s Center – the bowl’s official charity beneficiary. Beginning in 2010, the Texas Bowl will partner with ESPN and feature teams from the Big 12 and Big Ten Conferences.
Percussion One has provided exciting pre-game tailgating and entertainment for the Texas Bowl in 2008 and 2009. In addition, Lamar Burkhalter, founder and executive director of Percussion One, has also served as a Committee Chairman for the Texas Bowl since 2007.
During “Bowl Week” in December of 2009, Percussion One provided entertainment for the “Team Welcomes”, the “Team Luncheon” and performed for enthusiastic Navy and Missouri fans in many of the tailgating lots at Reliant Stadium. Following their tailgating performances, Percussion One headed into Budweiser Plaza for concerts complete with drum line and novelty/trash can elements.
Percussion One will continue to partner with the Texas Bowl in 2010 when the Bowl brings in teams from the Big12 and Big Ten Conferences.
