Western Carolina University Has Successful Marching Percussion Track
WCU just completed their annual Summer Symposium for Marching Arts, which included a student Marching Percussion Track. There were over 230 students involved this year with nearly 50 of those attending for Percussion.
The students enjoyed long days filled with sessions that included technique, sectionals, full ensemble, tuning & muffling, implement and head choices, score reading, rehearsal techniques, and team building exercises. Western Carolina’s drumline also came in to drum with and for the campers. It was tremendous fun!
Thanks go out to Matt Henley and Bill Register on the VF Education team for organizing and teaching, but also to Vic Firth for supporting this very worthwhile educational endeavor.
Be sure to mark your calendars for next year’s Symposium, July 12 – 16, 2009!
