Sam Ruttenberg returns from successful Puerto Rico Clinic

Vic Firth Education Team Member Sam Ruttenberg has just returned from a recent clinic appearance at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico at San Herman. The clinic took place on February 27th, and was hosted by Dr. Samuel Rosado, the head of the music department.

There were 75 students in attendance, and as Sam puts it, “I ended and the students were totally inspired. The clinic focused on snare drum and drum set… Musical, technical, and coordination aspects of drumming were demonstrated, along with excerpts from my book "Drum Tips" (published by HoneyRock, 2008).

Dr. Rosado said about the event that the “students were very impressed, they now have new ideas, as well as new questions about what musicality is, regardless of the instrument. That is what we are trying to teach here, especially to Music Education majors.” Rosado goes on to say that “…some of our voice faculty were present as well. I'm glad they were there. You presented some very challenging stuff, in a relaxed manner. Bravo.”

Fresh from his trip, Sam Ruttenberg and his trio will be performing at the Philadelphia Flower Show, which is touted as the largest show of its kind nationwide, taking place March 2 through March 9, at the Philadelphia Convention Center.
