The first annual "Ney Rosauro Mallet Keyboard and Percussion Summer Camp took place at University of Central Florida in Orlando June 3-9. 25 students from all over the United States attended the week long camp, enjoying the excellent percussion facilities at UCF.
The camp curriculum focused on a wide variety of percussion instruments including technique and repertorie for marimba, vibraphone, snare drum, timpani, and orchestral studies. Additional "hands-on" sessions covering Latin hand drumming and Brazilian Percussion were also presented at the camp. The harmonic and compositional aspects of the main solo pieces and concerti from Rosauro were also studied. The sessions were designed to offer a better musical understanding for the students, especially those who are interested in composing pieces for percussion.
The camp was a huge success and all the participants gave overwhelming Positive feedback about their experience. Some attendees stated, "This was one of my best musical experiences so far. I enjoyed it especially because of the amount of information covered in all different areas of percussion.

The Second annual Ney Rosauro Summer Camp will take place June 8-14, 2008 at UCF in Orlando.
