VIC FIRTH ANNOUNCES ONE MILLION VIDEO PODCASTS SERVED
Boston, MA May, 2007 - Vic Firth Inc., the world's largest and leading manufacturer of drumsticks and mallets, today announced a milestone of having served 1 million video podcasts to drummers and percussionists around the globe.
Vic Firth’s three weekly podcasts are offered for drumset, marching and concert percussionists, giving the viewer a wide range of entertaining and educational content that can be transferred to the Apple video iPod or viewed on a computer.
“When we began our weekly podcasts in April 2006, we knew it was an exciting new way for viewers to watch video on the internet,” states Mark Wessels, Vic Firth’s Director of Internet Activities. “Within a few short weeks, our drumset and marching podcasts were included in Apple’s iTunes ‘Featured Video Podcast’ listing and quickly rose to the top 10 podcasts in the ‘Performing Arts’ category.”
“It doesn’t take much to get hooked,” continues Wessels. “Currently, we have over 150 videos in our combined podcast library. I can take all those videos with me wherever I go. Lately, I’ve even hooked the iPod up to my television so I can watch drum and percussion videos on TV instead of the usual mindless channel surfing.”
“At Vic Firth, commitment to education is a core value,” states Founder and Chairman, Vic Firth. “Providing a depth of educational content on our website at no cost is one way that we nurture this value. Podcasting gives us the ability to offer even one more level of service to our customers.”
