Vic Firth Artists Shine At The University of Maryland Summer Percussion Workshop

   

From July 22-28 2007 49 students from across the United States, South Korea, Mexico and Hong Kong participated in the third University of Maryland Summer Percussion Workshop. Vic Firth Artists Peter Erskine, Tom Teasley, John Kilkenny and Aubrey Adams participated along with a faculty of world class soloists, orchestral performers and chambers musicians. In addition to Coordinating the week, John Kilkenny conducted and coached several of the percussion ensembles. A highlight of the week was the world premiere of Peter Erskine's new work for Percussion Ensemble " A Bird Sings" commissioned by the workshop and a consortium of groups and dedicated to the memory of John Wyre. This work was performed by the workshop artist faculty including Peter Erskine and John Kilkenny.
