Jonan Keeny Chosen To Perform “Phantom” Off-Broadway Test Run
Jonan Keeny has recently been contracted to play in the orchestra for Elon University’s production of The Phantom of the Opera, running February 14th through 19th. Elon University, located in Burlington, North Carolina, is one of two colleges and four high schools in the United States that have been chosen to do a test project to see how Phantom can be performed off Broadway.
The show will be heavily scrutinized by the Really Useful Group of A. L. Webber and the Rogers and Hammerstein Foundation. Members of each organization will be present throughout the rehearsal process, as well as during the entire run of the show. It is expected to be extensively covered in the local and New York media.
Every member of the cast, crew, and orchestra have been asked to leave every marking in every score to see what alterations were made to facilitate the performance. The show will also be filmed for analysis by the Webber group and the Rogers and Hammerstein Foundation.
The end result of this process will be a determination as to how the original The Phantom of the Opera would have to be modified in order to release it for public performance as well as, ultimately, a decision on whether or not to release it.
