Vic Firth Signature Artist, Gifford Howarth, spent the weekend of January 18-20 enjoying the sun of Arizona along with presenting several workshops. On Friday, January 18th, Howarth spent the evening working with percussion student from Hamilton High School and Highland High School. Vic Firth Education members Christopher Holley (Hamilton HS) and Wardell King (Highland High School) brought their percussion students together for a hands on 4-mallet workshop.
On Saturday, January 19th, Howarth ran a workshop for the percussion studio at Arizona State University, J.B. Smith, percussion professor. Later that day he presented a judges clinic for percussion judges involved with the WGAZ Arizona Indoor Percussion Circuit. Howarth took the participants through his approach to adjudicating the indoor percussion activity.
