Vic Firth Hosts Guitar Center Percussion Team at Manufacturing Plant
Boston, MA February 2007 – Vic Firth Inc., the world’s largest and leading manufacturer of drumsticks and mallets, recently hosted the Guitar Center percussion team at the Vic Firth manufacturing plant in Newport, Maine.
Jay Wanamaker, Mark Nelson, Jeff Lorenz and Tim O’Neal spent the evening with Vic Firth’s management team discussing all phases of the business, manufacturing and market issues. The following day the team toured the Vic Firth manufacturing plant. This enabled the team to learn about Vic Firth’s new saw mill operation to control wood supplies, the industry’s only on-site kiln drying process to control the critical wood moisture content and the exclusive manufacturing processes Vic Firth has developed.
Being able to see the industry’s only nylon tip injection molding process enhanced their understanding on why Vic Firth tips are the only one that can be truly guaranteed to never come off.
This was a great opportunity for the GC percussion team to learn how and why Vic Firth can continue to set new manufacturing records without compromising any quality aspects demanded by Vic himself. The factory tour clearly shows why Vic Firth products provide such a high level of quality while the innovative improvements continue to raise the quality standard for the industry.
