Vic Firth Educational Team member & Artist Henrique De Almeida is now the owner of The Percussion Institute of Colorado (PIC) in Colorado Springs, CO.
According to De Almeida, the school motto is “High level education, performance opportunities, and access to the best percussionists in the world”.
PIC’s 2007 calendar is based on a quarterly performance event schedule. Activities include recitals, classes, and clinics with guest artists. First quarter guest performer was Vic Firth Artist and New Orleans drum set sensation, Stanton Moore. Second quarter guest performer was Vic Firth Artist and Hall of Fame Jazz legend Billy Cobham.
Third and fourth quarters will bring exiting new artists and events such as the LIVE ATPIC DVD series as well as other performances.
We at PIC are committed to providing the best drum set and percussion school possible. In order to accomplish this, we have joined forces with INHOUSE, a local Realty firm in the Colorado Springs area. INHOUSE is located in the same business complex as PIC is to provide extra infrastructure and services that include a photography shop and a recital hall that accommodates approximately 100 people. It also houses “The Outhouse”, a performance venue that accommodates up to 200 people, a recording studio, and several classrooms. PIC also has several drum sets available for student use, Brazilian percussion, Afro Cuban percussion, pianos, and Vibes to name a few.
