Dan Britt Presents Masterclass

Dan Britt presented a 3 hour masterclass at his alma mater, Dumont High School, on January 10th. The first part of the clinic, hosted in the band room, focused on several topics: applying inspiration, observing and absorbing talent, drumming articles, hand and foot technique, various drumset styles, useful percussion books, drum history, timpani technique, "pushing the envelope" and the future of drumming.

The second part, held in the auditorium, was a hands-on application of one-surface drumming. Each playing a different percussion item, the student explored the creative possibilities, as well as group communication to include emulating volumes in a complete dynamic range.
