Brad King and Students Host WhackBamThud 2007

WhackBamThudd 2007 arrived in a big way Saturday May 12, 2007. The annual drum event hosted by the student body of Brad King played to a sold out audience once again this year. Parents, family and the community were treated to a more ‘live performance’ aspect this year.

Brad kicked the event off with an emotionally powerful quartet playing ‘In the Air Tonight’. We had drum lines, solos and everything in between. All celebrating the groove and this beautiful art we call drumming. Some pieces were written by the actual performers and performed with Latin percussion instruments, an ancient Persian instrument called the Santoor and culminating in a finale with Brad and three others performing an ultra slick, ultra fast breakbeat groove.

At the intermission, Brad opened the backstage door and realized that there had been a severe thunderstorm during which tornado warnings were issued. Brad believes, the students performing summoned the storm. Awesome!

Many thanks to SABIAN, EPEK drums, VIC FIRTH, SHURE Bros., LP Music Group, REMO, MODERN DRUMMER, ALFRED Music, & DRUMBUM. Without all of the amazing support, the event could never be as successful. Thank you from all of us!
