Drum Scores for Pipe Band Improvement Programs – Volume 1 is a new book of pipe band drum scores composed by Scott Bable, Drum Sergeant with the Alabama Pipes and Drums in Birmingham.

The book consists of original percussion arrangements for the twenty-two 2/4 marches currently required by the RSPBA and other associations worldwide as part of the MAP and PBIP programs.

The book contains individual scores for snare, tenor, and bass, and includes a studio CD of the snare scores recorded by Scott.

The CD was recorded using the new Vic Firth HS-1 Highlander Snare Sticks.

Each tune includes a summary lesson to help acquaint the player with the scores and pointers to effectively learn them.

Submitted by Vic Firth Education Team Member, Scott Bable, who is currently working on Volume 2, which will contain scores for the twenty-three 4/4 marches required for the EUSPBA PBIP (Pipe Band Improvement) program. Volume 2 will be available by the end of 2009.
