Western Carolina University and Vic Firth, Inc. are pleased to announce that the Western Carolina University “Pride of the Mountains” Marching Percussion Section is now playing Vic Firth products exclusively. Matt Henley, Assistant Director of Athletic Bands and Marching Percussion Instructor, has this to say about this wonderful partnership: “I believe that this friendship between Western Carolina and Vic Firth makes so much sense on so many levels. Vic Firth, Inc. has been and continues to be educationally driven. So are we!
We believe that empowering our younger generation of percussionists with as much great information as possible will only allow the activity and art to grow and prosper in the future. Using Vic Firth products will allow us to always be at the top of our game, and we are very excited about our new found relationship.” The drum line will be hosting a clinic with Scott Johnson at Western Carolina University’s campus on October 20th, and performing at the annual Tournament of Champions the following day. The Western Carolina University “Pride of the Mountains” Marching Band will be in Exhibition Performance at the Bands of America Super Regional in Atlanta, Georgia on October 28.
