Josh Watkins, an active free lance percussionist, has studied percussive arts under the direction of Dr. Christopher Norton, Dr. Julia Gaines, Mark Lowrie, Troy Hall, Loyd Warden, Gary Neihaus, David Pruitt, and Chris Viola. His musical talents have shared the stage with the Banana Oil Pan Band, Steel Jam, Tiger Pans, Del Alma, A Batteria, Moulin Musique, Missouri Chamber Orchestra, Watkins Jazz Trio, and the Jazz Cocktails. Mr. Watkins has also performed with artists such as Jake Clayton, Fred Hemke Jr., “Sutu Forte”, Corky Hale, Kenny Durham, and Arlo Guthrie. Mr. Watkins has taught students of every age at JW Percussion, his private percussion studio. As a guest instructor and artist, he has developed seminars for professional and student percussionists through music stores, camps, and school districts. In his free time, he routinely volunteers with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and the Gentle Doctor Benefit. Mr. Watkins is an active endorser of Pantheon Steel Drums, educator for Vic Firth, and member of the Percussive Arts Society. He is currently developing both his percussive arts career and education in the Nashville, TN area.
