Vic Firth artist Mike Dolbear is set to launch a new drum tuition hub this May with three unique educational Masterclasses.
The pro educator and creator of the Young Drummer of the Year competition will officially open “Drummers Only” in Glasgow on the weekend of 10th May.
The content for the Masterclasses will be:
- Young Drummers – Saturday, 10th May: This class is tailored for young drummers, just starting out or looking at entering future Young Drummer of the Year competitions. A two hour hands on masterclass covering all the important factors and foundations needed to get the most out of your drumming.
- Mike Dolbear Masterclass for Adult Drummers – Saturday, 10th May: A two hour hands on Masterclass covering all the important factors and foundations needed to get the most out of your drumming.
- Mike Dolbear Masterclass for Teachers – Sunday, 11th May:This three hour masterclass is designed for teachers to enhance their exciting teaching practice weather its peripatetic or private students and for drummers who are looking into teaching.
Each Masterclass will be limited to only 20 spaces with Mike also offering one-to-one tuition on the same weekend. Booking is available online at www.drummersonly.co.uk/events
Drummers Only is a brand new custom-built drum and percussion tuition hub situated within Central Glasgow. With a roster of experienced tutors offering private lessons it will also aim to attract touring professionals for regular in-house performances making it a go-to destination for Scottish drummers. Drummers Only is sponsored by Rhythm Base and is fully affiliated with the Mike Dolbear Drum School.
Mike Dolbear has been a professional drummer for over 30 years having studied with some of the greatest teachers including Kenny Clare, Max Abrams and Bob Armstrong. After ending a 10 year residence at The Talk Of London Mike set up his teaching studio in North London teaching and helping many professional students and teachers including Brian Bennett (The Shadows) Cherisse Osei (Mika), Kapil Trivedi (Mystery Jets), Steve Forrest (Placebo), Mark Richardson (Skunk), Emily Dolan Davies (Bryan Ferry/ Tricky) just to name but a few. In October 2011 Mike was asked to coordinate, audition and teach the 1000 drummers for the London Olympics 2012 opening ceremony.
