Vic Firth Receives NAMM Milestone Award, Commemorating 50 Years of Service in the Music Products Industry
Boston, MA - Vic Firth Co., the world’s largest and leading manufacturer of drumsticks and mallets, is the proud recipient of NAMM’s Milestone Award.
The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) recently honored Vic Firth Company with the Milestone Award for 50 years of service in the music products industry. The award recognizes retailers and manufacturers who have succeeded over the years through best practices and strong community standing to reach a landmark anniversary.
“To receive an award of this caliber is a distinct honor,” states Vic Firth, President of Vic Firth Co.
Over fifty years ago, Vic Firth hand-whittled his first pair of drumsticks without any intention of starting a company. Working out of his garage in Dover, Massachusetts, his only goal was to create sticks with a great feel and sound for his performances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Inevitably, word got out about his sticks’ superior quality and the Vic Firth Company was born.
“Those that endure in the music products industry credit their longevity to providing exemplary customer service, becoming integral members of their communities, adapting over time, and forging strong succession plans,“ states Joe Lamond, NAMM president and CEO. “NAMM is honored to call this business a Member and looks forward to supporting their success for many years to come.”
Milestone Awards were presented to longtime industry leaders at the 2013 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, the world’s largest gathering for the music instruments and product industry. The annual music products trade show draws nearly 90,000 industry professionals to see the latest products, attend professional development seminars and network with peers.
