Mark Wessels' Rudimental Technique
     Exercise #6: Duple/Triple Bucks

The same basic concept applies on this exercise: Play an accent stroke at a full 12 inch height, then FREEZE the stick 3 inches above the drum by applying just enough pressure in the fulcrum and fingers (but no more than is necessary! A “death grip” on the stick is a very bad habit!). Play the taps at 3 inches with a RELAXED wrist motion. Watch yourself in a mirror to see if you are playing two distinct heights. As you speed up the tempo, decrease the height of the accent to 6 inches.

Intermediate-advanced players might want to employ a slight Moeller stroke on each accent and decrease the squeeze on the fulcrum to increase speed.
