Mark Wessels' Rudimental Technique
     Exercise #3: Double Strokes

Being able to play relaxed doubles is an essential first step to playing great sounding paradiddles and “open” rolls. To develop a quick double wrist stroke motion, practice this exercise on a pillow or some other surface that offers no rebound.

Strive for a smooth, relaxed motion of the wrist on each double stroke, with only the wrists and fingers creating the second stroke (no arm motion). Work to ensure that the second stroke of each double is as strong as the first.
