Zach Schlicher has been involved with the marching arts since 1997. Upon graduation from high school in 2001, he began his drum corps career with The Cadets. He continued to perform with the corps for four years and served as the percussion section leader in his final season. During his time there, the percussion section earned three consecutive Fred Sanford High Percussion awards. The corps also honored Zach with a Distinguished Service award in 2003, and he was named 'Cadet of the Year' in 2004. During the academic year, Zach studied percussion at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
Currently, Zach resides in Canton, MI where he works with the West Bloomfield High School marching band, indoor percussion ensemble and the districts percussion students (grades 6 - 12). He also instructs the Walled Lake Central High School marching band and indoor percussion ensemble. Zach has recently been hired as the percussion supervisor/snare tech and co-arranger for "Redline", the newest Independent World indoor percussion ensemble out of Michigan. The summer of 2010 will also mark his fourth season with the Carolina Crown. Prior to working with Crown, he was the snare tech for the Madison Scouts in 2005 and 2006 and he recently held the Director of Percussion/Battery Arranger position at King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, MA.
Along with his percussion design/instruction roles with multiple ensembles, Zach occasionally performs on cast with Blue Devils entertainment. He is also a proud endorser of Vic Firth sticks and mallets and Evans Drumheads.
