Michael
Moore as the new battery percussion caption head for The
Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps. Previously, Michael worked
as a percussion instructor with the Cadets, from 2006-2008,
percussion instructor at Dartmouth High School, Dartmouth,
MA (2005-present), instructor/clinician/private lesson teacher
at King Phlip High School, Wrentham, MA, percussion instructor/coordinator
for New Bedford All-City Music Program, New Bedford, MA,
percussion arranger/instructor at New Bedford High School,
and Band Director/General Music at Keith Middle School, New
Bedford, MA (present). He earned his Bachelors in Music Performance/World
African American Music at the University of Massachusetts,
Dartmouth in May 2007.
Michael marched tenors with the Cadets
of Bergen County Drum & Bugle
Corps from 2002 - 2005 where the Cadets earned DCI’s
High Percussion Award in ‘02, ‘03
and 05, and the Division I Championship in 2005.
Michael has a vast and varied performance history, including
the Kekeli West-African Drum and Dance Ensemble traveling
to Ghana, West Africa to study Ewe music and culture in May
of 2007, various Universtiy Ensembles: Steel Band, Percussion
Ensemble, Latin Jazz Ensemble (3rd Annual Panama Internatinal
Jazz Festival, Panama City, Panama in January ‘06),
Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Chorus, Javanese Gamelan Ensemble, Brazilian
Samba Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Spirits Experimental Ensemble,
Audible Think Improvised Music Series, New Bedford, MA and
a recording for a pilot episode of “The Traveler” for
ABC in 2006.
