In this lesson, you'll learn a new rudiment: the Flam, play an etude on two drums, learn to count dotted half notes in quarter time signatures and 16th notes in eight time signatures.

To master this lesson, you must:

At 90 bpm and 128 bpm, practice the "8 on a hand" exercise everyday (at least 30 seconds at each tempo)

At 90 bpm, practice the single and double stroke RUDIMENTS, and "Isolated Double Stroke" exercise everyday for at least 30 seconds
    (Rudiments: Single Stroke Roll, Single Stroke 4, Double Stroke Roll, 5 Stroke Roll, 9 Stroke Roll, 13 Stroke Roll)

At 110 bpm, practice the multiple bounce RUDIMENTS, "Bucks in Three" exercise and Single Paradiddle everyday for at least 30 seconds
    (Rudiments: Multiple Bounce Roll, "buzz 5", "buzz 9" and "buzz 13")

Practice the "Extended Doubles" exercise (no sticks, hands on leg) for 1 minute – as fast and as loud as possible!

Practice the "Flam Prep" exercise A & B (#10, page 78) for 2 days, exercise C for 2 days (or as long as it takes to play perfect flams)!

Perfectly play the Coordination exercise (page 20) utilizing the dotted half note

Perfectly play Appendix Lines (page 60), and Playing Exercises 1–4 (page 21) while tapping the foot and counting out loud (subdividing the dotted half note) with these accompaniment CD tracks:  |  Appendix Lines  |  Playing Exercises  |

Perfectly play Playing Exercises 5–8 (page 21) while tapping the foot and counting out loud with this accompaniment CD tracks:  |  Playing Exercises  |

Perfectly play the Rudimental Etude #5 (line #9, page 21) at 90 bpm, using double stroke rolls AND at 110 bpm using multiple bounce rolls
