PERFORMANCE SPOTLIGHT:
SO PERCUSSION

“MUSIC FOR TRAINS”

“Music for Trains” was co-commissioned by the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center, the Brattleboro Music Center, the Rockingham Arts and Museum Project and Vermont Performance Lab. The commission involved a one-month residency in Vermont in which the members of So Percussion composed and performed two concerts of music celebrating the train lines connecting Brattleboro and Bellows Falls.

The result is an eclectic soundscape that reflects Vermont's train life and industrial history, all set to films by Jenise Treuting. Along with excerpts from the performance, Josh Quillen and Jason Treuting discuss the project's conception, as well as the use of sound samples and speech in composition.
