Born and raised in L.A., Mark Schulman became interested in pursuing music as a mere toddler. At age 3, he witnessed the phenomenon of Beatlemania. "I remember seeing The Beatles on television with my brother and my folks. I saw Ringo playing the drums and something resonated so deeply with me. Then I saw all the screaming girls, and at that moment, I think I thought to myself, 'I want THAT!"
Mark has parlayed that desire into a major career. With a resume that reads like a 'Who's Who' of Rock n' Roll royalty, Schulman is a first call drummer for acts like VELVET REVOLVER, DESTINY'S CHILD, BILLY IDOL, SHERYL CROW and numerous others. The blue-eyed multi-tasker drummed for CHER on her last tour, one of the most-attended in music history. Mark is the recipient of numerous Gold and Platinum discs. The Rock Star Drummer, as he has been coined, has now been recruited by Grammy-Award winner PINK, recently touring the U.S. and appearing on national talk shows and CBS' "The Late Show with David Letterman".
Schulman is a classically trained cellist and as a teen, played with the Los Angeles Junior Philharmonic. He is also a trained audio engineer and an active educator having taught at the LOS ANGELES MUSIC ACADEMY and as one of the World's most sought after drum clinicians hosting clinics in countries around the World including at the renown Musician's Institute in L.A.
Music is not Mark's only driving force. He also devotes his personal time to seminars and mentoring troubled and incarcerated kids. Mark is on the board of directors of Create Now!, a non-profit organization founded in 1996, to help change troubled children's lives through creative arts mentoring.
Mark's writing/production credits include films, various national TV shows and commercials, radio jingles and interactive media projects for clients such as: MATTEL, IBM, BEN 10, SONY, ACURA, NOVA LOGIC, NEUTROGENA, HONDA, THE DISNEY CHANNEL, NICKELODEON, SHOWTIME, USA NETWORK, COMEDY CENTRAL, COUNTRY MUSIC TELEVISION, NASHVILLE NETWORK, THE SOPRANOS, PASSIONS, SCHOOL OF ROCK, SPEED and BEVERLY HILLS COP III.
Mark's love for inspiring others is shared through his "MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN!" seminars. He founded and created the Drumming Recording Seminars. Mark also wears the hats of host, MC and keynote speaker, appearing on television, at live events and corporate conventions for organizations such as IBM and The National Athletic Trainers Association.
