Michael Najarian, born and raised in Duxbury, Massachusetts has been drumming since age 10.  Early influences, ranging from Dave Grohl of Nirvana, John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, and Danny Carey of Tool, all ingrained the same message which can still be seen in Mike’s drumming today; play hard and let your drums sticks, and cymbals speak.  From an early age Mike had an affinity towards playing with authority but also playing to the specific song, which is what he believes separates the good from the great drummers in the industry.

Mike played in various bands throughout middle school and high school, playing school dances and various house parties, anxiously waiting to play out at clubs when he entered college.  When Mike attended Boston College from 1999 - 2003 he formed the band The Crowding Out Effect, which enjoyed local success on campus winning various battle of the bands competitions and filling up Harper’s Ferry, Great Scott, and Copperfields with local students on a regular basis.  The Crowding Out Effect was known for superb stage presence, as Najarian would frequently perform in costume as Spiderman or a nun, and also for high energy drumming which was countered by a first chair violin player and excellent guitar and bass work.  Through The Crowding Out Effect, Mike met Chad Urmston, formerly of the popular national act Dispatch, and joined his new band State Radio in the beginning of 2006.

State Radio is known as an infusion of rock, reggae, punk, and ska with liberal political convictions.  Today State Radio is known for its energetic and musically diverse live performances and its social awareness, as evidenced by its non profit organization Calling All Crows.  State Radio is also known as an extremely approachable band, as the band members often meet and greet fans before and after shows by making themselves present in the audience for openers and available to converse after shows.  State Radio is a great forum for Najarian to display his abilities in all different styles of drumming, as the music goes in many stylistic directions, even within the same song.

In 2009, Mike also began working more seriously on a project called Ratfynkt, which plans to release its first album 'Populate' in the fall of 2010.  Ratfynkt is an alternative rock band reminiscent of bands such as Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and Tool.
