Wan-Chun Liao

Wan-Chun Liao was born in Taiwan and received her BA degree with concentrations in Music Performance (percussion and piano) and Education from the National Taiwan Normal University. In August 1995, she received a teaching assistantship as a graduate student at the Ohio University where she received her Master of Arts with a concentration in Percussion Performance in 1998.

Liao's professional performing experience includes work as a percussionist with the Taipei Ju Percussion Group (JPG), one of Taiwan's premiere performing ensembles. During ten years with the JPG, she performed in over 700 concerts throughout Asia, Europe and the United States.

A member of the Vic Firth Education Team, Wan-Chun Liao has taught percussion and percussion ensembles at the University of Miami, Ohio University, National Taipei University of Arts and the Tai-Chung Normal University.

Currently an adjunct faculty member at the University of Miami Frost School of Music and the New World School of the Arts, Wan-Chun Liao received her doctorate in Musical Arts and Percussion Performance from the University of Miami in 2005.

Ney Rosauro Symphonic Signature Stick
