Dirk Brand was born in Germany and attended at the Percussion Institute of Technology in California, were he studied with Ralph Humphrey, Joe Porcaro, Takashi Numazawa, Casey Scheuerell, Joey Heredia, Steve Houghton and many more!
Dirk has published several books: "1,000 Faces of Drum Styles", "Future Drumming: Drum`n`Bass, House, Jungle", "Chartreading for Drummers" and two separate Play Along CDs: "Jamtracks for Drummers" through the AMA Publishing Company. His latest book, "Pocket Rhythms for Drums" is recommended by Thomas Lang, Wolgang Haffner and Steve Smith.
In 2003, Dirk introduced the DVD "A Band Concept" through the Company "Acoustic Music Records". This DVD is about how to play in a band – demonstrated by guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, vocals, harmony and rhythm theory.
As a sideman, Dirk has worked for many national and international artists such as: Charlie Mariano, Deborah Watson, Gregor Hilden Band, Stevie Woods, Rock Legends Geoff Downes and John Wetton (ASIA), Gloria Gaynor, Isabell Farell, Catherina Valente, Gitte Hennig, Angelika Milster, Al Copley, Touring with the Prog Rock Group Leez, Jeff Richmann, Johnny Rogers, Phillipe Caillat, Goethe Instiute, Big Jay McNeely. He has also played a variety of musicals such as Evita, Star Light Express, Hair, among others.
Brand has performed around the world, including festivals such as "Zildjian Rhythm Night", "Drums&Sounds 2000", "Superdrumming Festival Nonnweiler", "Brandenburg Trommelt", "Drums`n`Percussion Paderborn", "Tribute to Jeff Porcaro Germany", "Drums`n`Percussion Paderborn 2003", "Le Bag Show Paris","Festival TamTam Montlucon" , "Rhythm in Marktoberdorf", and many more!
Currently, Dirk is an instructor with the Westfälische Wilhelms Universität Münster and of the Modern Drum School.
